Walk With Me
The Trinity: The Beginning of the Denominations
Could the Trinity be a concept misunderstood by many believers today? This episode makes a bold claim by challenging traditional understandings of the Trinity, exploring its biblical foundation, or lack thereof, and tracing its historical development. We dive into how the concept of the rapture, while not explicitly named, finds its roots in scripture and invites listeners to rethink how isolated verses are often interpreted out of context. Our series on denominations aims to provide a more profound understanding of the unity of one true God and enrich your spiritual journey.
Join us as we unravel the distinctions between titles and names, revealing Jehovah as God's name in the Old Testament and the roles of titles like “Father,” “Lord,” and “God.” We delve into how these titles align with Isaiah 9:6 and how God manifested in the flesh through Jesus, as referenced in 1 Timothy 3:16. By questioning the concept of the Trinity, we discuss how the attributes of God—Father, Son, and Holy Ghost—are manifestations of one being, Jesus Christ, rather than separate entities. We use analogies to clarify how God can embody different roles without division, emphasizing the singularity of Jesus Christ in Christian theology.
But it’s not just about theological debates; it's about the transformative power of God's love. We highlight the profound message of love and sacrifice that Jesus delivered on the cross for humanity. Despite any harshness that may arise during Bible study sessions, the underlying truth remains unchanged: Jesus loves us all. We encourage you to share this message of love, find hope, and embark on a journey of recovery through faith. With heartfelt care, we invite you to embrace God's love and join us next time for more spiritual insights and encouragement.
Hello everybody and welcome to today's episode of Walk With Me. I am your host, jj. It's so good to have each and every one of you here today, so good to see each and every one. I can basically virtually see you as the you know, you can get all these metrics and stuff and it tells you hey, this many people downloaded today and I'm thankful for each and every one of you. You guys can be listening to any other podcast except for this, uh, and there are a ton of podcasts out there, but God has brought you here and you are taking a moment of your time to listen to this podcast and because of that I am eternally grateful to you and for you. Okay, uh, thank you, each and every one of you who share and recommend this podcast.
Speaker 1:I get emails saying hey, I heard about you having a podcast. People are coming up to me, I heard about you having a podcast. Thank you all so much. Thank you. I am truly not worthy. I am just a person with a microphone and a Bible, but God bless each and every one of you and thank you all for joining. And now you're walkers, right, because you know that's just how we do it, because so many people use the term Christians and, yes, we are all in the body of Christ, we are in the body of Christ, but so many people use the term loosely and then you start talking to them about the Bible and they have no idea what you're talking about. So, yes, we are Christians and we are walking towards our heavenly goal, and that's the name of the show Walk with me. All right. Thank you, each and every one of you, thank you for our sponsors, thank you, thank you. Thank you, true Bars, lyricist, bringing us the intro and outro. We're probably going to get a new intro and outro soon, so I'm really excited about that. We also have Exquisite Creations and she is firing it back up. Folks, I am excited. We might even get new T-shirts now. I'm really excited about that that. So hit me up in the email, uh, walk with me bible study at gmail. Walk with me bible study at gmail. I'm also open to your comments and your questions. I love questions. As a matter of fact, today, uh, we're going to start a new series based on a couple questions that I kind of hit around that and I kind of hit and missed a little bit, and you know, I, you know I give a session and then generates questions. So what we're going to do is we're going to start kind of a series about denominations.
Speaker 1:Ok, so we have a rule on this podcast, because we have a limited amount of time, you know, I might give you a scripture, I don't know. Acts 2.38. Right, the rule of this podcast is is to read a verse or two above the verse we're talking about, or the verse or two below the verse we're talking about, but preferably the whole chapter. Why is that? Because context is key. No one in the Bible sat down and wrote a verse that one day and then didn't come back to it. They wrote it in chapter.
Speaker 1:As a matter of fact, the Bible isn't actually written in chapter and verse. We just sort of do it. We separate it into chapter and verse so that it's easier for us to reference, because not every Not every Bible is going to have Isaiah 55 on page 215. So, because of the different size of the Bibles and things like that. So it makes it easier to reference, when you say, hey, acts 2.38 or Genesis 1 and 9, to say, OK, I know where that is in my particular Bible, right, so it's important to make sure that, even though we look at it in chapter and verse, we understand that this thing was written like a flowing document, like like we look at our math book or we look at our history book or we look at any other book that we have. I have a whole stack of books and I have some law books and things like that. You can't just take one sentence out of it and have it make sense. But we seem to do this with the Bible and a lot of people build entire doctrines wrapped around a couple of poorly stitched together stories.
Speaker 1:So we're going to start a series and we're talking about denominations and this is the first one, and I know I might have dealt with it. We might have an episode on it. One, and I know I might have dealt with it. We might have an episode on it before, but I don't care. You know why? Because I love talking about the Word of God, I love talking about Scripture and I love talking about it. All right, so this is you and I are on this journey together, and the more we know, you and I, the more you and I know, the more the easier. The more, the easier, the higher the probability. I'll say it that way it is for us to get into heaven.
Speaker 1:So the first thing we're going to talk about because this is the most I this is this is probably the most basic and yet profound thing we have to understand is that there is one true God, one. He is God all by himself. The scripture says he is God all by himself. And the term Trinity, which I hear so many people talking about or alluding to, like thanking God for Jesus okay, I heard that in a song and I'm like wait what? And the term trinity does not exist anywhere in any scripture. Now, I know somebody's probably sitting at the same, but jj, you talk about the rapture all the time and that word isn't found either. But it's described. It's described and we put it and I look forward to the event, but we don't really. It's described in scripture what happens, but the word is not found there. So, yes, this is true, but the Trinity is not found there. So, yes, this is true, but the Trinity is not even described in Scripture.
Speaker 1:All right, so let's look at, let's start here first, with Ephesians 4 and 6. And this is as plain as you can get One God and Father of all, who is above all and through you all and in you all. So one God makes sense. Only one can be above everything else. There can only be one. I'm kind of reminded of the old TV series called Highlander, where he says there can be only one, and this is really not what God is about. It's only be one God.
Speaker 1:In Isaiah 44 and 23, and I'm going to use this on the New Living Translation. I actually prefer the King James, but this is very profound. Sing O heaven, for the Lord has done this wondrous thing. Shout the joy of the earth, o death of the earth. Break into songs, o mountains and forests of every tree, for the Lord has redeemed Jacob and is glorified in Israel. Now you keep seeing this one phrase the lord, the like one, not the lords, not those lords. The lord james.
Speaker 1:2 and 19. Thou believest there is one god. You do well, and so this is let's just stop right there. He was literally telling people that just believing that there's only one God, yeah, it's okay. But the next verse, the next part of this verse, comes back and gives you a right cross to the face and it says the devils also believe and tremble. In other words, just believing and just knowing that there's only one God is not really. In other words, just believing and just knowing that there's only one God is not really. It's not the end all be all, because the devils know that there's only one God and they tremble, which is why they want you to believe that there isn't just one God, that there's a bunch of gods. They literally brought about polytheism. I don't want to get ahead of myself.
Speaker 1:Malachi 2 and 10. Have we not all one father? Have not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother and profane in the covenant of the fathers? Now, this is very, very important. He says. Now, this is very, very important. He says do we not have one father? Have we not one God? This is two titles of the same person. Now I get it as of right now. We haven't even said a name. We said Lord, we said God, we said Father. But these are all titles. But these are all titles.
Speaker 1:I was listening to oh, I was listening to some show on one of these Christian stations and the guy was literally like well, when you take the Lord God's name in vain and you say you know the curse word GD, you're taking his name in vain, even when you say god bless, you're taking his name in vain again, I'm like but no, the bible clearly states that this is a title, this is this is a title, this is a um. This is not his name. And I know I'm getting ahead of myself, because later on God says to Moses by my name, jehovah, I am not known to them. This is the only time he has only referred to his name In the Old Testament. He says Well, I'm sorry, the first time, the first time, not the only time. The first time he refers to his name, he says my name, jehovah, but by my name, this is God.
Speaker 1:We've been talking about the Lord and God. This is him saying by my, not our, my name, jehovah, I am not known to them. So he's clearly saying that this is me, this is who I am. I am a host, I am an employee, I am a co-worker, I am a husband, I am an uncle. All these are titles, and all these are titles that actually refer to me, but by my name, jj, can I only be me?
Speaker 1:Please understand this is a basic concept and if I had a preacher one time, really explain it to me. There's no other way but to say if I wrote a check and signed it pastor, husband and father I could write that check for $200 billion and you would go to the bank and try to cash that and they would laugh at you and say, well, where is the name? And this is the exact same concept we're talking about Now. So you got to be real careful with the people who actually preach and kind of allude to the Trinity, because there is an incomplete concept of the truth. Now, I'm not saying that they're bad people, because some people just really don't know. Some people have just been brought up because this is what my pastor teach and this is what my grandma taught. This has been taught through generations. People just don't know. I'm not here to clown you because of something you don't know. That's not fair to you. But this here is just a way of understanding who and what God is, and this is the very basic.
Speaker 1:Now, if the Trinity is true, right, why is it silent? The Bible never says there are three gods. It never even refers to three gods. You might say, well, jj, what about Matthew 28, 19? We're going to get there. We're going to get there. What about when Jesus was praying in the garden? We're going to get there too. Just be patient. Just be patient, because these are exactly the arguments I had when I was exposed to what one. God is okay, but he's go back to the Old Testament where we're talking about Jesus ran in the garden.
Speaker 1:Isaiah 9 and 6, for unto us a son is born, a son one. The government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called. Now, here's here, it is Ready for it. His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God. Wait, what Now? If you believe in the Trinity, then this sort of seems contradictory. Because how then, is the Son already the Mighty God? And the contradiction will continue because it says the everlasting father. Wait a minute, how is a son the everlasting father? And this is exactly why the jews tried to keep, kept trying to stone jesus. Because how are you everlasting if you are born? Because if you're born, you shall surely what Die. So when people start thinking about it like this and trying to fit the idea of the Trinity into what God really did, ie robe himself in flesh under the rules that he created and be born by the rules that he created, that begins to make sense.
Speaker 1:The Prince of Peace. I have to finish out the scripture because it says the Prince of Peace, the King of Kings, is the Prince of Peace, not two separate or three separate people, but these are all one. Being A son is going to be called all of these things A one. 1 Timothy 3.16. And without controversy, and this is going to explain Isaiah 9 and 6. Without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness.
Speaker 1:God was manifest in the flesh. Wait a minute, wait a minute. God, the God, big G, god, not one of the gods, not the big God or the little God, or the little God's brother. No, god, one singular, was manifest in the flesh. So at what point Was God ever manifest in the flesh? So at what point Was God ever manifest in the flesh? I'll wait. No, I won't, because we only have a limited amount of time. So God being manifest in the flesh Was Jesus. He was justified in the spirit. Remember this is Jesus. Seen of angels? Okay, well, who? Scene of angels? Okay, well, who was seen of angels? Oh, that was God. And God was manifest in the flesh. And when was God manifest in the flesh? It was Jesus Preached unto Gentiles. Now, there you go, right, there. Was Jehovah ever preached to the Gentiles? Absolutely not. When the Gentiles had an experience with Jehovah, it was death. It was death, it was mayhem, it was plagues, it was war. When Gentiles met Jehovah, oh, that was the end of Gentiles. But this being preached unto Gentiles was Jesus Believed on in the world? Who was believed on in the world? Jesus Received up in the glory, who was received up in the glory? Jesus. And that means Jesus was God manifest in the flesh.
Speaker 1:Now I know you're sitting there looking at, you're looking at your phone, you're looking out a window somewhere, and you're sitting there looking at your phone, looking out a window somewhere. You say Jesus said Jesus, but then he referred to Jehovah in the previous example. We're going to get to that. Trust me, these are actually the same name, I know. So be careful when you, man, I'm getting so far ahead of myself and I'm just going to say this. I'm going to say this. I'm going to move on and come back to it. Believe this, be wary of this Yahweh Yeshua thing too. So just be wary of that. We're going to come back to that. But Jehovah and Jesus is actually the same name. One is in Hebrew, one isn't Okay. One is in Hebrew, one isn't Okay. So if Jesus is God and God is Jesus, then there's only one God, right? So what does this Trinity really mean?
Speaker 1:Now there's a Webster definition of Trinity and then there's, like this, churchology definition of Jesus, I'm sorry of Trinity, definition of Jesus, of Trinity. The Webster definition of Trinity means the unity of Father, son and Holy Spirit. As three persons See that word Three, one, two, three persons, separate and distinct individuals, in one Godhead, according to Christian doctrine. Now, I promise you that came directly out of Merriam-Webster. Now that definition, you, that came directly out of Merriam-Webster. Now that definition shows that there are three separate people. Now, what churchology did because under any sort of scrutiny that begins to fall apart what churchology did was started to kind of make them three in one, kind of make them like this triune deal or like sort of like divine siamese triplets, and then made them all full, equal.
Speaker 1:And the more you try to explain how there is no, the more you try to explain this trinity thing, the weirder it gets right. So what does the bible really say about this? Isaiah 46, 5. To whom will you like me? In other words, to who, to what will you compare me to? And who would make me equal and compare me that we may be like.
Speaker 1:Does three in one really make sense? No, it doesn't, especially considering that the definition of God means the supreme, like we say. We use this title a lot I am a call of duty, god, I am a street fighter, god I am, I have God tier rights. In other words, this level, this thing we're using this word God for, is to talk about supreme being, perfect, being above everything else. So everything and everyone else, a high level of wisdom. Oh, he is a debater, he's a God-level debater. We use that term, we use those terms quite a bit and not even realize what we're talking about. Is this thing, that's this sort of level that stands alone by itself, but above everything else, so the by? The truth is is that the bible revealed many attributes of god. Andai, we have El Nisi, we have a lot of these El's, e-l that were attributes that we gave to God, like he's a provider, he's my fighter, he's my deliverer, he comforts me, he does all these things just being himself. But these not his name, these are names that we gave him. And so where did this come from? The concept of this term trinity originated with the catholic church and it's not in the bible as a matter of fact. Uh, if I'm not mistaken, I saw it in Britannica. Hold on one second here. Britannica Encyclopedia, 11th edition, volume 3. I actually went and looked this up, page 365, 366.
Speaker 1:Baptismal formula was changed from jesus christ under the name of jesus christ to the word father, son, holy ghost, by the catholic church in the second century. Let's stop right there. Second century. We're talking about second century ad, not second century. From when adam and Eve walked around, we talked and now oh yeah, and don't let people here's another aside, don't let people just start talking to you about common error or ACE, this amno dominion after the birth of God. Okay, so the church was already established not long after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. We're going to get to that. I'm trying to not get ahead of myself. But 200 years later this organization came along and changed Jesus' name baptism to Father, son and Holy Ghost. Father, son and Holy Ghost. As a matter of fact, in Hastings it says something to the effect of Use of a Trinitarian formula of any sort was not suggested by early church history.
Speaker 1:Baptism was always in the name of Lord Jesus until the time of Justin Martyr when the Triune formula was used. That was in the Hastings encyclopedia, but yet we just accept this all now in churchology, like there's really a trinity and we really can just baptize people entitled. It's the name of Jesus Christ that is very important in your baptism. Now we're going to see more secular, rare verses when we talk about baptism, but we're not there yet. I'm really trying not to get ahead of myself, but let's go on because there's a lot more scriptural references and I hope you're taking notes, but that's okay, because if you're not, you can always listen back to this podcast later. It's fine.
Speaker 1:Ephesians 4 and 10, right, he that descended is the same also that ascended far above the heaven that he might fulfill all things. There's only one, one person period anywhere in the Bible and history and the creation of existence that has done that Jesus Christ. He's the one that descended to get the keys of death and hell from the devil, and also the same Jesus ascended into heaven. As a matter of fact, the two witnesses said that same Jesus you saw go up would be the same Jesus that come back down. So this is, this is truth, colossians, and we're gonna. We're just gonna cover this and I know I'm giving you a lot of scriptures like fire fast, but I there's a lot to cover, right, colossians, and we're gonna wrap it up after this, colossians 1 and 27, for god wanted them to know that the riches and glory of christ are for you, gentiles too, and this is the secret. Christ lives in you and this gives you the assurance of sharing his glory. Now, who lives in us? The Holy Ghost. That's what the scripture said, because they were all filled with the Holy Ghost. Wait a minute. I thought we just said Jesus lives in us. The Holy Ghost is also a title. The Holy Ghost is a title of a manifestation of Jesus Christ. It's not a contradiction. The Holy Ghost is Jesus. The Father is Jesus, jesus is Jesus.
Speaker 1:And this is where a lot of people begin to think that these are two separate beings, and sorry, three separate beings. And then when, so when you start putting some pressure on that theology, it starts to crumble, and so they back off to this triune, sort of siamese triplet. Well, these are they're all separate, but they're sort of connected. No, no, they're all separate, but they're sort of connected. No, no, no, they're all one. They're all one being doing three different things. You and I are doing three different things right now At least three different things One, we're breathing. Two, we're listening. And three, if I'm speaking and you might be doing something else while this voice is going through your headset or through your Bluetooth speaker, that doesn't mean that we're three different people. That just means we're doing three things at the same time, and probably a lot more. Some people might be even working out listening to this podcast.
Speaker 1:We are not different beings, and if the God that created everything is so much more than us, why could he not do three or more things simultaneously? This is the God of the universe we're talking about. This is the almighty God that created the world, created man and created the whole idea of recovering man to himself, and then died for us, created himself a meat basically a sort of a meat suit, as it was, and that could be sinless, could be, that could be sacrificed for us so that we might be redeemed, and we're going to talk about it. I know I'm a little ahead, but just the idea that god went through all of that and laid the precepts on and didn't just pull it out because he could have done this the very next day after Adam sinned, but because Adam and Eve lost the concept of why it had to be done, which is why we had all that time. Between the sin and the birth of Jesus Introduction of sin and the birth of Jesus, the flood and the birth of Jesus there were all these things that had to be done.
Speaker 1:All right, now I know we're out of time. I know we covered a lot. Don't feel overwhelmed, and if you have questions, I don't care, send me an email, please do, even though we're probably going to talk about them. But maybe I might miss something, or maybe something we went over today wasn't explained very thoroughly. That's fine, because I figured we had a lot to cover. But go ahead and send me an email, drop me a line. If you're on YouTube, you can just drop a comment under the video and I promise I'll get to it eventually. But go ahead and send me an email.
Speaker 1:Welcome to BibleStudy at gmailcom. Like and share and, before we go today, please make sure you tell somebody today that Jesus loves them. God loves them. Okay, god died on the cross for you and for me, and that alone will start you on a recovery of your life. You have no idea where the end could end up in such a more positive way. All right, I know sometimes I get on and Bible study might be a little harsh. Jesus loves us. Jesus does Okay. All right, I love each and every one of you. Take care of yourself. I'll see you on the next one. Bye-bye.
