Walk With Me

Unveiling God's Name: Beyond Titles to True Identity

JJ
Speaker 1:

Hello everybody, welcome to today's episode of Walk With Me. I am your host, jj. It's so good to have you, each and every one of you, here with us today. So good to see all the new people who are joining the podcast and sharing and talking about it. I didn't know it was such a big thing, but thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for all of those inviting new people to the podcast and new walkers, and thank you for the emails and questions, and we're going to talk about one of the questions today.

Speaker 1:

But thank you Big shout out to our sponsors Truth Barst and Lyricist and Exquisite Creations. And you know what, I still didn't get the name of that other sponsor. Sometimes I just I got to get better at that, I know. And you know what, I still didn't get the name of that other sponsor. Sometimes I just I, I gotta get better at that, I don't. But, uh, I I do see what you're doing. Thank you so much for that sponsorship. Thank you so much. I will get your name right. I don't want to butcher it on the air, but thank you, thank you, thank you so much. Thank you, each and every one of you, thank you for all just being you and loving on me in the email and stuff like that. Thank you all so much. Just the mere fact that there are people listening just kind of whenever you're tired just kind of get the strength to go on right. Thank you all, thank you, thank you, I love you all. And speaking of interaction, we had an email and the email and, just in case, before I forget, the email address is walk with me bible study at gmailcom. Walk with me bible study at gmail.

Speaker 1:

And we were talking about oneness last week and so the big thing I guess, uh, one one of the questions that came out of that and, trust me, I love questions. Okay, that means that means it helps me just as much as it helps you. Don't be afraid to ask biblical questions. So that really means that one of the big questions that we have is that what was Jesus' or what was God's name? What is God's name? Or how did they? Who is God basically? And it's kind of difficult to answer in one or two verses because there's such a pattern. When you study in the Word of God, you've got to kind of understand there's a pattern to things and there's a reason why there's a pattern, because God ordained it to be so. And if God ordained it to be so, he didn't just do it because you know, he had an attitude one day and he decided to make it a pattern. He did it for a reason, and so we're going to talk about that and then, hopefully, this explains why that question.

Speaker 1:

Even though you thought it sounded a little weird, it's not weird at all, because people have had that question and because they didn't have the answer, they created false doctrine around it. Oh, the reason why I'm saying I'm speaking like this Is because the person who sent me the email Did not put their name in a subject line, so I don't leave it as or I actually use it as an anonymous question. So if you have any questions and you want your name to be mentioned, go ahead and put your name in the subject line so that I know I can address you openly. Otherwise, I'm going to use it like this, like this anonymous question. So let's get right into it, because we're going to talk.

Speaker 1:

We have a lot to cover today. And one other rule before we get started I'm going to cover a lot of scripture, a lot of verses, today, because I want to lay down the pattern specifically, and that invokes the rule of this podcast, and that invokes the rule of this podcast. We can listen into this podcast. We deal with the scripture. The rule is to read a verse or two above the scripture that we're talking about, all the way down to a verse or two below the scripture we are talking about, but preferably the whole chapter. Why is that important? Because context is key. We are going to kind of dismantle some things now today, but the reason why these things have to be dismantled is because people are taking things out of context and building an entire doctrine around it and the word of God becomes ineffective because it's not how God was saying it, right.

Speaker 1:

So, with that being said, let's get into it. So please understand that in the Old Testament, when we're talking about the Old Testament, the name, the actual name of God, god treated it as a secret in the Old Testament. Now, there are a lot of scriptures that suggest this, but it really was, because when the man sinned, he actually separated himself from the name of God and the power of God. So that's why that separation was so important, because, remember, in Genesis God and Adam walked together, so they were talking like friends, but that sin separated them and therefore the name of God got lost. Well, not lost to God, lost to man.

Speaker 1:

Now I'm going to fire off some scripture real quick. Judges 13 and 17. And Manoah said unto the angel of the Lord what is thy name? You're going to see a lot of situations in the Old Testament where this happens. And Jacob asked them in Genesis 32, 29, tell me your name. Exodus 3 and 13,.

Speaker 1:

They shall say to me what is his name. This is Moses talking to God, because he knows that when he goes back to Egypt, all Egypt, god's angels throwing their names out randomly, because those names had no power, but they knew that names did have power. So they were going to ask Moses what's the name of God? Proverbs 30 and 4. What is his name and what is his son's name? Isaiah 52.6. Therefore, my people shall know my name. The name is very powerful and the name itself is what will carry that power. It's just the same way your name, your good name as a person, will carry your legacy.

Speaker 1:

There was a dispensation, this first dispensation in the Old Testament that was very devoid of people having the name of God. So what generally started to happen was they began to create a name for God, and we'll see things like El Shaddai, el Nishi, and what this means is God is my provider, god is my salvation. Remember the word God is not a name. The word God is not salvation. Remember the word God is not a name, the word God is a title. And these are names. These cell names are basically duties that God has done in people's lives. So if you were being delivered by God, then the name that you would give him in the Hebrew tongue would be God delivered me. God provided you bread. God provided me. You know, god healed me. God healed me. That would be the name that you would assign to God, because that was what he did. That's what he did, but that is not who he was. So think of it like we talked about before.

Speaker 1:

I write a checkbook, scratch my name off of it, write $100 million and give it to you and tell until you go down and chase bank, and then they say, well, who wrote this account? Whose account is this name on? They're not going to cash it, so it must carry the name. The power of that business is in the name. Now, at one time it does kind of refer to Jesus as the Father, pastor and Teacher. But please understand, those are all titles too. The reason why they're capitalized, though, because I can almost hear the question coming to your mind that why is it capitalized? Proper noun, because it was recognizing the deity and separating that deity from humanity. So if you said, for instance, father with a capital F, that means the heavenly father, whether as a father with a lowercase f, that means father here, and this doesn't. This even still excludes the whole use of the term father, as in hey, father, can I go to the store and get some milk? That's using it as a name, but that's still the title. That's using it as a name, but that's still the title.

Speaker 1:

Now, there is a time when the name was actually revealed. There's some time, there's some place in the Old Testament it was revealed, but the real revelation of Jesus was not revealed in the New Testament, matthew 1 and 21. And thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people From their sins. Whose people Remember? Now, this is not At this time. Salvation wasn't for the Gentiles, it was for the Jews. So whose people are we talking about? Okay, the Jews? Whose people? I'm sorry, who did the Jews belong to? God said those were his people. So therefore, we're talking about Jesus saving his people from their sins, god saving his people from their sins. So Jesus is God, I know, and we're just going to move fast on this because we have a lot to cover. So when we say Jesus, we understand that that name over saved and it is actually a reincarnation of that, or a greek incarnation of that name of jehovah J-E. God, jehovah with us. In the New Testament, god J-E S-U-S saves, jehovah, god with us. Jesus, god saves. So now let's look at all the other times when Jesus actually confirmed this and again we're going to go fast.

Speaker 1:

Remember the rule verses 2 above and verses 2 below. I have come in my Father's name. John 5, verse 40. He's telling you right now I'm coming in my Father's name, not in my name. In my Father's name, the works I do, I do in my Father's name. Whose name Jehovah's name? If I'm doing it in Je Father's name, whose name Jehovah's name? If I'm doing it in Jehovah's name, then I am Jehovah, which is why it's very, very, very, very and this is a sidebar, I'm off my nose why it's very, very important you do not try to take the name of God unto yourself, and we'll talk about that maybe in another. Somebody send me a question about that because I don't want to get off into the weeds on it. I have declared them unto my name. John 17 and 26. Thy name, I have declared them unto thy name. Who art thou? Now this one here, acts 9 and 5. This one is very telling. Who art thou, jehovah, lord? Well, actually it doesn't say Jehovah. I just threw that in there. Who art thou, lord? And the Lord said I am Jesus. Now, wait a minute.

Speaker 1:

This is Paul talking to God, and the reason why Paul is talking to God is because God has said why are you persecuting me Now? Paul knew right away he was talking to God. He was talking to what he thought was Jehovah, which is Jehovah, but he thought Jehovah and Jesus were two separate individuals. So God had to straighten him out on that. I am Jesus. Who you are persecuting? I am Jesus, and we talked about it before and I meant to do a session on the I am part, because it's the I am that really set people off in the New Testament For some reason, when they knew, when Jesus said I am, they knew he was claiming to be God and that goes back into what Moses had a little discussion with God.

Speaker 1:

God said tell them that I am sent and that's a whole. That's. Yeah, we got to somebody send me a question on that. I remember to do it. Even Jesus has sent the Lord. Even Jesus has sent me the Lord. Even Jesus has sent me Acts 9 and 17. Even calling upon God, saying Lord Jesus, acts 7 and 59. For if Jesus had given them rest?

Speaker 1:

Now, this is Hebrews 4 and 8. And this is referring to God and the Israelites. I, jesus, have sent my angel to testify unto you, and this is Revelation 22. So, again, that's a lot of verses. Remember, I said I was going to cover a lot of verses, so this really involves a lot of study that I'm going to need you to do on your own Only because I want to lay that entire groundwork that, all the way through the Bible, that God always refers to himself as one being Now.

Speaker 1:

So what about? I know we talked about it before, but what about 2819, jj? Okay, yep, you got it Baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son of the Holy Ghost, matthew 28, 19. Here's the problem. Remember, we talked about earlier capitalization of a common noun. That's exactly what this is. But if we look carefully, that it says the name singular, not the names of it's name. Singular, not names. No S on that word name. If it was names, then you would have the names of the father, the names of the son and the names of the holy ghost, but that's not the case. It's only one. Now the word is singular.

Speaker 1:

So the only way to search the scripture and find out in what name is to find out how the apostles got by, because every single one of those apostles who was standing there on that mountaintop got the same great commission. And then, when Paul later came along, he got the same commission from the apostles that were standing up there with Jesus and they all did one thing in common. Well, they all preached. Yes, they also baptized in Jesus' name. He wants good proof. We got the receipt Luke 24, 47. Okay, so this was another part of the Great Commission.

Speaker 1:

Repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name, not their name. His name Among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. So let's go and find out. Acts 2, 38. Baptizing in the name of Jesus Christ. This is where that sins were remitted. This is why using that name to have your sins remitted is so important because it's the name that remits the sin, the blood that washes it away Acts 8 and 12.

Speaker 1:

Preaching the name of Jesus Christ Acts 16. Baptizing in the name of the Lord Jesus Acts 22 and 16. Baptizing in the name of our Lord Sing it. Acts 10 and 48. Baptizing in the name of the Lord Now, these are just the first one was in Jerusalem, and then you had Samaria and you had Paul. Paul was baptizing in Acts 22-16. Baptizing in the name of the Lord. He's using the singular title there too. Caesarea Acts 10 and 48. Baptizing in the name singular of our Lord, which is Jesus Christ. In Ephesus, acts 19, 1 through 6,.

Speaker 1:

Here they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. In Corinthians, 1 Corinthians, 9, 1 and 13,. Under whose name were they baptized? Again, a singular. Again, the scripture is laying out time and time again that it's the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost is Jesus. It's like the name of this host, this employee, this uncle is named JJ. It is all titles of the things I'm doing at that particular time, but my name is not those titles. The name is JJ. So in this case the name is Jesus.

Speaker 1:

Now, it's very, very, very important that we even though I covered a lot of things today it's important to understand why it is important to use that name, and I'm using that word important a lot because it is easy to kind of brush it off, because, you know, we were taught and I I can't knock that. I can't knock that because I grew up the same way, I actually believe the same thing and until I think I remember I was actually about to take catechism and I was like well, is it? And I asked somebody a question, it kind of looked at me crazy. I said which part of the world does Jesus walk over? They said what I said well, if the Father watches over the world and the Holy Ghost watches over the world and the Son watches over the world and the Holy Ghost watches over the world and the Son watches over the world and the Son is Jesus, like, do they take turns watching over a different part of the world? Because why would you pray to all three of them? And they looked at me like well, I don't know. So that's what actually started my question into you know, know, trinitarian doctrine.

Speaker 1:

And then it was. Then you introduced you know, mary into the subject and I hate to get so specific. But then I'm like okay, so you're praying to mary, to pray to jesus, to get the Holy Ghost to convince the Father to do something. That's a lot. Why can't you just pray to the Father? But when you put all of it together, when you really read the Word of God, and you see that these are one being, one individual being not Mary Mary is a human, but Jesus, the Son. The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost is one person. Oh yeah, that reminds me of the second question. I said what's the name of the Holy Ghost? They went Holy Ghost. I said no, the Son is named Jesus. The Father's name is Jehovah. What's the name of the Holy Ghost? And so we used to run around calling the Holy Ghost God. We didn't know what his name was.

Speaker 1:

I know this sounds kind of ridiculous now, but this was really what started our kind of revelation into the fact that the Holy Ghost was very powerful. And if that's the case, then the Holy Ghost had to be God. Because God said there's no other beside me. If I am the beginning and the end and there's no other beside me not beside us, but besides me. Then this other guy saying hey, all power and authority is given unto me, then that means I have no power. I have no authority. And Jesus clearly said all power is given unto me. So if he wasn't God manifesting the flesh and the God sitting up in the clouds with the box of lightning bolts by his desk, he had no power. Up in the clouds with the lightning box, the lightning bolt by his desk, had no power.

Speaker 1:

So it's time that we kind of figure out and break these traditional, erroneous doctrine. And then that's the only way to really put it, and I, I get it. I get it. I know some very, very, very, very kind people who think these things and there's nothing against them. It's just that you were taught this, but the Bible does not support this teaching and I wish I could love on you a little more. But the Bible does not support it.

Speaker 1:

This way, and once you really realize and embrace the revelation that one God, and that God's name is Jesus man, things will start opening, things will start getting revealed to you out of the Bible that are just amazing. That's how you get the Holy Ghost believe it or not. I mean, that's how I believe Like I've never I've seen people who are claiming to get the Holy Ghost I mean, that's how I believe like I've never I've seen people who are claiming to have the Holy Ghost and claiming to be Trinitarian at the same time. So I say, well, you have only one third of the God so and it leads to so much confusion. God is not a God of confusion. He's not so. If God is not a God of confusion, he's not so if God is not the God of confusion. And yet this doctrine creates confusion. Where does that doctrine come from? Yep, and that's why it's important to really study the Word of God, and that's why I'm glad we get together every Friday. Well, every week. I know you've kind of seen me sort of post my episodes on Saturday, but I will be getting back to Friday as soon as some things get spanked out. But I love you all and we've kind of come to the end of our time today. I love you all.

Speaker 1:

Remember the whole scripture. Go back, re-listen to this podcast as many times as you need to to get those scriptures, because I wanted to make sure I got them all in in the time that we had a lot. Read them. Read the verse or two above the verse or two below, but preferably the whole chapter. I know there's going to be a lot of reading, but it is essential. It is essential and we're just scratching the surface, because next week we're going to talk about the titles of the book and we're going to talk about some of those Old Testament titles that we talked about earlier. But I just want to get to the point. We're going to talk a lot about it, so tune in. Next week we're going to continue this. Because I thank you so much for the question, because that question really it's not as simple, as hey read this verse and I should answer it for you, but it is Kind of interwovenven throughout the entire world.

Speaker 1:
