Walk With Me

Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ: Faith, Knowledge, and Action

JJ
Speaker 1:

Hello everybody and welcome to today's episode of Walk With Me. I'm your host, jj, and we are back. I am so glad to be back. I didn't expect to be gone this long. I'm sorry if you guys have been looking for me. I decided after going away for vacation I was going to learn some new audio techniques and turns out I didn't learn them all that well. So I ended up I kind of messed up my audio real good and it took me a little while to get it squared away again. But I am back. I'm back with each and every one of you and I'm really glad to be back, glad to be back behind the microphone. Really, I'm just glad to be back with each and every one of you behind the microphone. Really, I'm just glad to be back with each and every one of you. It has just been a really, really good time. Really good time, had a good time with the family.

Speaker 1:

Thank you all very much for your well wishes. Thank you all so much. Thank you for sticking around and all the emails that you sent. I really do appreciate it. We are okay, but I hope that here now you will notice a better sound quality than we had before. I thought it was going to be a simple fix. It ended up being a bigger project than I thought. You know how it is. You think you're going to change the spark plugs and realize you got bad rings, so you got to go to fix that problem and that's exactly what happened. But it's so good to be back with each and every one of you. Love each and every one of you. Thank you all for liking and sharing and subscribing as your platform allows it. Thank you all so much. Platform allows it. Thank you all so much. Quick shout out to our sponsors True Boss, lyricists and Exquisite Creations, and Get Right Into Everything. We've already been away from you so long.

Speaker 1:

I want to get those questions. I want to finish getting this one question answered and then we're going to. The questions have been piling up in the email. If you have biblical questions, feel free to send them to walkwithmebiblestudy at gmailcom. All one word, no spaces, no dashes, just walkwithmebiblestudy at gmailcom. Also on YouTube at walkwithmebiblestudy, I think it's 8473. Apparently there are a lot of walk With Me Bible Studies on YouTube, but it's Walk With Me Bible Study 8473. Until I come up with a better name. But thank you all so much. Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 1:

So we want to finish the question about what is belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, and I know it was such a. It seemed like such a simple question, but the more we dug into it, like my sound system, the bigger the answer got. So we're going to try to wrap it up, because a lot of people do it, or they say they do it without really knowing what that is, and no fault to anyone. You know the people who want to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, but it's more than just saying there's something. There's a lot of things that go with it. I invite you to go back and listen to the last few episodes. I wanted to go step by step with it.

Speaker 1:

One rule that we have on this podcast make sure that we talk about a Bible scripture, be it a verse or two above or a verse or two below, but preferably the whole chapter. Why? Because context is key. It's absolutely key in understanding what is being said. When it's being said why it's being said. I was talking to somebody and I said if I said bow and I spelled it B-O-W-P-L-U-G-H if I said bow, then that means a tree branch, b-o-u-g-h. I said bow and that means a tree branch. But if I said bow before the crowd, I'm not talking about a tree branch, I'm talking about B-O-W, which is to bend forward in a subservient gesture, or bow on a shift. All these three well, even those two words are more specifically spelled the same, but they mean something completely different. So context is very, very key. You can even take the same word bow, d-o-w, and say bow, and that means to wrap it around again. So, again, context is key. The more you read and get the context, the more understanding we can have of the scripture, just so that we can know how to do it right, right, okay.

Speaker 1:

So, with that being said, we're going to look at the Great Commission. Now, a lot of people get this wrong, and we talk about this quite a bit on this podcast. But a lot of people get this wrong, and we talk about this quite a bit on this podcast, but a lot of people get it wrong, and the reason why we're talking about it is because a lot of people use this scripture to get it wrong. So the Great Commission is Luke 24 and 47, and you also see it in Matthew 28, 19 and 20, and Mark 16, 15 to 18. Now, this was pretty much the last, one of the last things that Jesus said to the apostles before being taken up into heaven and only three writers really record the last verse of Jesus and what he was really doing was telling the disciples what their big assignment was. And Matthew 28, 19 says Now, if you believe in the Lord, jesus Christ, you've got to do what he says.

Speaker 1:

Not necessarily you've got to get on a plane and go to Pakistan somewhere, but you've still got to preach the gospel to everybody, everybody you meet, everybody you come in contact with and I'm not saying, speak it in a crazy way. You come in contact and I'm not speaking to this thing in a crazy way, but God is always going to give you an opportunity to either witness by your actions or be able to explain how good God is. So this is part of preaching the gospel and you don't have to do it, even in front of a pulpit or a hard stand. You don't need a microphone. People are going to come to do it even in front of a poor bit of understanding. You don't need a people going to come to you with problems. That's a good way to say hey, man, listen, you know what I had a situation, or I do a situation. The bible says blah, blah, blah and that, whatever that chapter and verse is, and this, this is why you've got to study the Word of God to apply it correctly to the situation.

Speaker 1:

It's just a part of believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. You're not going to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and not know what he said. You're not going to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and not read the Bible. I'm not saying you have to memorize everything line by line, word by word, but if the Bible says, and I'm going to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and the same Bible says, you know, don't put forth bitter water and sweet water out of the same fountain, then you kind of would know that, because of the context, it means your mouth should not put forth bad things and bad things. You should only be speaking to edify the body of Christ. So this is what I mean. So believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and missing his name, hey, you should be able to talk to anybody about the Lord, but not only that be ready to baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Now, let's stop right here, because this is where even more people get wrong. Other people left over that actually go out and preach the gospel to every Christian. So many people get it wrong.

Speaker 1:

What is the name of the Father? What is the name of the Son? What is the name of the father? What is the name of the son? Then? What is the name of the holy god? Now, a vast majority of you who just listened to this only said one word, and you only said that word after I said the second question, because he just said what's the name of the father? He said jesus. He said jehovah was the name of the son, jesus. And he said what's the name of the father? You said Jesus. You said Jehovah. What's the name of the son? Jesus. And then you said what's the name of the Holy Ghost? And you said Holy Ghost. Or you didn't say anything. When I said what's the name of the father and I said what's the name of the son, you said Jesus. Or you said what's the name of the Holy Ghost? And you what is the name of the Holy Ghost? And he just he was stunned. Someone else on this podcast got it right. What is the name of the Father, jesus? What is the name of the Son, jesus. What is the name of the Holy Ghost, jesus?

Speaker 1:

And now anybody else who didn't say that started looking at their phone, looking at their speaker, looking at, started looking at the walls like what? Remember this is believe on the lord jesus christ, because if you believe in the lord jesus christ, you would know the part where he said I am my father. This is why studying, surviving or reading the bible, reading his words and not just the ones in red I I'm talking about the entire thing. That's why it's important to know what he said. You can't believe somebody if you don't know what they said. You just can't. Now does that mean new people who just started trying to live for God don't believe in Jesus? No, no, no, no.

Speaker 1:

There's a difference between believing in faith and believing in God. But because you didn't specify what you meant by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, or I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, or what does that mean to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ? We have to cover both. And believing in the Lord Jesus Christ by faith Is saying I know Jesus exists, jesus loves me and I want to. I want to live my eternity with Jesus. Okay, believing in knowledge Is also believing in faith. Believing in knowledge also means hey, listen, I gotta know what he's doing. I gotta know what he wants me to do To get to heaven. Believing in faith, believing in knowledge also means hey, listen, all of these, I got to know what he's doing. I got to know what he wants me to do to get to heaven. I have to know how to live, I have to know how to speak. I have to know how to be more Christ-like in order to get to heaven. That's true believing on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Speaker 1:

So now, with the apostles being given their great commission, jesus led his disciples up to Mount Olivet and told them to go back to Jerusalem and wait. And he said go back to see the power of the Lord. Now these guys actually believed in the Lord Jesus Christ because they went and did exactly what he said received power from on high. Now these guys actually believed in the Lord Jesus Christ Because they went and did exactly what he said they went back and they waited. All of them didn't wait. Sometimes you have to wait. Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ means sometimes you have to wait. So they went back and they waited on the Lord and they waited, and they waited, and they waited, and they waited, and they ended up waiting for seven days.

Speaker 1:

And now we have the book of Acts, acts chapter 1, verse 4, 1 through 14. And when the day of Pentecost was come, they were all gathered in one place one mind, one accord and one Sorry, that was Acts, chapter 1, verse 4. And being assembled together with them. The matter is that you should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father saying See, you have heard of me, which means you heard this from me, you're hearing this directly from me. Go there and wait, because I'm telling you to do it. So, john truly baptizes water, but you shall be baptized with the holy ghost. Not many days since. In other words, just a few more days. You're just gonna have to wait, right? So? So in that chapter two, that many days hence finally happened 2.1.

Speaker 1:

And the day of Pentecost was fully come. They were all one quarter, one mind, one place, and suddenly there came a sound from heaven of a rushing, mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting and there appeared unto them cloven tongues, like as a fire, and it set upon each of them and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. So this is exactly what happened when they believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. When you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible says believe on me, as the Scripture has said, these things will happen. It's not just something that you just do or you just say. Things happen when you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. So now that this has happened and now that we've gotten the Holy Ghost, so the people who have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ end up getting the Holy Ghost. Why? Because they have committed of their sins to find out and later on have been baptized in Jesus' name and will do exactly what the Bible tells them to do.

Speaker 1:

Now let me just pause here for station identification. Now, let me just pause here for station identification. I am well aware, and even more so aware in the last six months ago, just how much false doctors were going around. I have run into some of the wildest doctors out there, especially in the last six months. It's been pretty eye-opening, I'll put it that way.

Speaker 1:

But understanding that this is just. It's just imperative that you have a Bible Now. You don't even have to have a book or a bomb Bible with fancy scriptures and insignias on it or whatever. You can download the thing on your phone. Be careful of what version you download. I just say it this way because that's just the way it is. Be careful which version you download, but understand, walkers, that you've you gotta read the bible. You can walk with us, walk with me while we do it, while we go through it, but I don't want you to fully trust me either because I could be misleading you. I know right, I know that comes as a shock and not that I would say that I am misleading you. Please don't put me in and twist my word. What I'm saying is, unless you know for sure the Bible says to make your calling and your election sure, unless you know for sure that this Bible study podcast is 100% taking the unadulterated word out of the Bible and giving it to you in a study format, you should not trust me if you don't know me. Do I want you to come back? Absolutely I want you to come back. I want you to walk with me and just learn this Bible. To come back, I want you to walk with me.

Speaker 1:

We've been doing this Bible study. We've been doing this now for five years and I feel like we've gone through maybe 8% of the Bible study. We've skipped around a lot, basically because of questions, but we've done everything from first-time view to. We've drilled down and we've talked about rather deep things. I feel like we've barely scratched only source of the word of God. Now I get it. Some of you are still here and I appreciate your support. I appreciate your kind words. Thank you those who have sent them to me, and I even appreciate some of the troll comments. I love that. That means I'm on target. I'm over the target. People start screaming because the bomber's over the target and I go to an old saying.

Speaker 1:

But here's the thing I didn't write it. If I wrote it, then I can say I'm the guy with the cornerstone. I'm the only one you hear. But listen, the Bible has to be in context Because we have to use that in order to be saved. Nothing else matters. It doesn't matter how I feel about it. It doesn't matter if I agree with it. It doesn't matter if it's going to cause me to lose friends. It doesn't even matter if it's going to cause me to gain friends. It's still not going to change the truth that's in me.

Speaker 1:

And believing in the Lord Jesus Christ is just doing what he said and not I don't want to say not questioning it. Not. I don't want to say not questioning it, that's not doing it right. Believing in the word of Jesus Christ is not just questioning it or not just doing it because it's a habit, doing it out of faith. That's what I'm looking for. It's a work of faith. The bible does say faith without work is dead, because if you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, then you're going to work and do what he said. So if Jesus says we should be meek the meek inherit the earth then you should be meek. If Jesus says to be angry and sin not, then we need to find out how to be angry or to be angry and sin not. Jesus said a lot of things. It will take me a week just to go half of what he said, but we have to know how to do it the way he wants us to do it, because, after all, jesus is God and the best in the world. So that's also part of believing in the Lord Jesus Christ the Lord, not a Lord, but the Lord Jesus Christ, and that's important too. It's all equally important. You understand that Jesus is God and he is the way into heaven.

Speaker 1:

That's about as succinctly as I can put it, and I know we traveled a long road to answer that question. I appreciate your patience. I think we've had to take it about a month to answer that question, and it's okay. It's okay Because I don't want you to feel as if it was just a cookie cutter answer. Sometimes you give a quick answer and it doesn't come out right and it doesn't sit right. It kind of leaves a lot of stuff behind. Now that doesn't mean that I don't want to ask questions. I do Because I love biblical questions. The more Bible questions you ask, the more I get to study. And the more I get to study, the more I learn about God. And the more I learned about God see how that sort of builds in the end. So, over and over, it sort of builds one on top of each other and that strengthens me as a Lord and helps my ministry, the ministry that God is giving me. More on that later and hopefully, hopefully.

Speaker 1:

Here's another announcement's, one big announcement coming up. Very soon my brother and I will be launching a podcast. I can't give you the title of it yet, but as soon as we nail that down, about a month before the first episode airs, we'll probably start really announcing it. All right, I'm going to cut it off a little bit early because it's summer and I just want to see how this goes without too much trouble. So I love each and every one of you. The new sound system is just amazing. I feel like I'm going to have to do some tweaking to it. I love each and every one of you. God bless you. Hope to see you in the next one.
