Uh, what's happened is that we had some emergency travel we had to do, and because I was very poor on my time management, I did not uh get a chance to fully create the episode before we left. And so, because I did not want to give you guys a half-big episode, I decided that we were just gonna skip this weekend or that last weekend, and um just go ahead and do have this week's episode. Uh, so we are still talking about this vaunted subject, which is ties. Why Tithing Still Matters

I just want to talk about it. So, and and and I I kind of understand it, but let me just throw this disclaimer out there. I'm not sure if I put it in the last episode, but I think I want to mention it every single episode before we get into it. People who pay their tithes correctly, I've never seen them financially struggle, and I mean that. I've I've seen people give out of balance, I've seen people not give and then go into financial problems, but I've never seen anyone who pays their tithes correctly and faithfully, I've never seen them financially struggle. Even if um one person does it and the other person does in a in a marriage, I've I've never seen that happen. I might see that person go through it, but I'm just I mean, like the person who doesn't in a marriage or relationship go through the financial problem, but I've never ever seen people who are paying tithes correctly, what that means. So now last week, the last time we talked about it, we talked about how this tithing thing actually is pre-law. Because a lot of the the big argument with people, some of the argument is well, tithing was for the law, and that was for the Jew, and it's no longer valid, and things of that nature. Please understand there were things that was right and wrong before the Ten Commandments were ever written. If you don't believe me, go back and read about Noah's the Noah's Ark. The Ten Commandments weren't written, but the first thing God saw was the heart, the thoughts of uh uh the heart of men were evil continually. So there was a right and a wrong. Man knew to do right

Tithing Before The Ten Commandments

and wrong, but they we just chose to do the wrong thing. So, and even we go back to uh Adam and Eve, there was only one rule: don't eat from this tree. Guess what we did? We ate from the tree, we gave it to somebody else, and they ate from the tree. That's the whole sermon in itself. So there before the law, before the Ten Commandments, before Charleston Heston's Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two large stone tablets and threw them on the ground, and it went back up and had the law rewritten. It came down, and God gave Moses books of other laws about what we're going to talk about. This thing about tithing was already established. Abraham tied, Jacob tithed, and this was all pre-egypt. So um, we don't see any uh thought about. I don't, I really was looking, I don't see where Isaac tied tithed, but he had to have told Jacob about it because that's how Jacob knew, and so this is all pre-law, so this was all more of a a covenant thing that man established with God. So what God decided was to um how do we say it now in legal terms? We he decided to codify it into law. You will hear that, you will hear that now in a lot of political discussions. He wanted to codify it into law. There would be no more excuses for anyone not knowing what tithing was. So this is why you will start seeing the word tithe in Deuteronomy. You'll see it in Leviticus, you will see it in numbers. Now, what is tithing? Now, tithing is a Greek, I'm sorry, Hebrew word, Messarah. It does also appear in the Greek. I don't know exactly, I can't remember right now exactly what that word is, and I don't want to pause the episode to look it up. I'm sorry. I'll I will promise you I'll do it for the next time. But basically, it literally means a tenth. It literally means a tenth. It's it's simple, a tenth.

What Tithe Means In Scripture

And so, and we see it in Leviticus, we see it in Deuteronomy, but let's let's go to Deuteronomy uh 12 and 17, where we first see the word tithe. All right, and basically, and I oh and we do have a a rule on this podcast, um, especially when we're gonna be covering a lot of scripture like this. When we have we're covering a lot of scripture like this, uh basic rule is the verse or two above, the verse or two below will prefer be the whole chapter. Why is that? Because context is key. And what you will find is what I found when when really digging into this time thing is that a lot of people are going to take this out of context, this entire subject out of context, because they just don't want to pay the tithe. And basically it just kind of boils down to being rebellious. But let's get into it, all right? Now you see it in Deuteronomy chapter 12, where God is saying you may not need to within the gate the title thy corner or thy one. And we're going to talk more about Deuteronomy and the fact that uh the whole tab. I just don't have to understand the entire tablet. Deuteronomy for the picture. Alright, so the ability to basically do the print to tell the print time run thing. Alright, I run a tablet. Now, this derived to the entire congregation of Anthony. Alright, so let's start at verse 6. I'm gonna read verse 6, verse 11, and verse 27. And by that time, I promise you that time. Alright, so verse six, and then shall you bring your burnt offerings and your sacrifices and your tithes. Wait a minute, wait a minute. So, and and the reason why it's important to stop right there is because a lot of people, a lot of people will tell you that, well, you know, Jesus, uh, he fulfilled that law, you don't have to do that law anymore. That was just the law for the children of Israel. Uh no. Because if you look right here,

Context Rule For Reading Verses

God is literally telling the children of Israel, which is our are basically our model for the modern church. Uh, but He's basically telling the children of Israel, he's drawing a distinction between the burnt offerings, the sacrifices, and the tithes. He didn't say just bring everything in one eye. These things, these three things are separate. God has never added words just for the sake of adding words. He's always been very concise, very to the point. He said, Bring your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, and your tithes, and your heave offerings. Now, what is your heave offers? No, that is not the office. You the offerings you don't want to want to eat and swallow because you're gonna eat. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I that's what I used to think. Don't please don't judge me. But he literally is separating out tithes and your bath and your free will offerings. Wait a minute. You mean the tithes are different from your free will offerings? Yes, yes, walkers, your tithes and your free will offerings are different, are separated, they're two different things. And God goes further

Deuteronomy Separates Tithes And Offerings

to describe it because he says, and your first things and of your herds and of your flocks. All right, that's just Deuteronomy 12 and 6. There's so much to dig out there. That's why I said I'm not gonna be able to get through all of this day. Let's jump down to verse 11. And there shall be a place which the Lord your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell. Wait a minute, that's the house of the Lord, right? Okay, he shall cause his name to dwell there, and thither for there you shall bring all that I command again, your burnt offerings and your sacrifices and your tithe, which the heave offerings of uh, and the heave offerings of your land, and all your choice vows which you have vowed unto the Lord, which means any kind of uh dedication, things you have dedicated to the Lord, you're gonna bring that to. So absolutely, these things are separate. So, what is that 10 that that tithe that 10 is your tithe? That tie, that that basic word of your tithe means master. Okay, and I know I just butchered it, but it I didn't want to say maser, but it's masur, which means tenth, and that's gonna if you have a lexicon. I fully, fully, fully, fully suggest you get one. But mas sir, and uh if you go with the tithes, which is a poor form, it is masrah, which means a tenth, especially a tithe, a tenth part. Now, why is that important? Because God put it right there in Deuteronomy 18:3. We're still in the book of Deuteronomy, okay, and this is the book of the law. This is also where you are not supposed to uh kill, and you're not supposed to steal, and you're not supposed to, you know, have sex with your father's morning, and all the other things that the century sins that we're not supposed to do, those are still in that same book. But JJ, didn't Jesus fulfill the law of sacrifice? Yes, he did. He did, he did. So, and and the law of sacrifice is why you don't have to bring uh the burnt offerings,

Jesus Fulfilled Sacrifice Not Tithing

you don't have to bring a cow to the church and have it slaughtered outside and take it inside and burn the thing. No, no, no. Jesus shed his blood for that, the burnt offerings and all of that, but all the rest of that did not go away. It did not go away, and you can't, there is no verse in the scripture that says you shall no longer bring your tithe. Jesus was very clear on what laws got changed to. For instance, um, if you know, for back in the day, for the hardness of your heart, you was able to write a bill of divorcement and put away your wife. But I say to you now, see, you see what I'm saying? There was no such thing as, but I say to you now, you shall no longer be paying tithes. Alright, so I I just want to put that out there. We're gonna move on, but let's keep going. Deuteronomy 27. I'm sorry, 12 and 27, because Jesus kept going with this, and thou shalt offer your burnt offerings and the flesh and the blood upon the altar of the Lord. You know what's kind of funny here? Let me just stop right there. These same churches will tell you to come and bring your sins to the altar. Well, they will then turn around and tell you that you don't pay tithes. So now, which is it? Do you have an altar or are you don't have an altar? Are you paying tithes or are you not paying tithe? And that's the issue. All right, but let's continue. And the blood of the sacrifices shall be poured upon upon the altar of the Lord, and thou shalt eat the flesh. Now, 18 and 3. And this shall be the priest. That tithe that you're bringing in, this shall be the priest. Uh the priest do from the people from whom God is offering sacrifice, whether it be an ox or sheep, they shall give him unto the priest on the shoulder, the two cheeks, and the moth. God is

What The Priests Receive From Tithes

literally has them having to break down what that tithe means. Don't be bringing the tail. Don't be bringing an eyeball. You you because you're supposed to be bringing that 10% off the best cut. You're bringing it 10% off the top. Please understand. This is God is not God kind of knew the pettiness that we were gonna be going through here. Alright, so and and that uh is uh actually there is another um part of Tiz where we were talking about Zebak, which is uh a flesh of the animal. So and the reason why that's important, the reason why that's important is because your people will try to tell you, and believe it or not, I have the same situation, and I I struggled with God for for a little bit, a little while. Um, they say, well, you know, we're supposed to feed the poor with that. We're supposed to feed the poor with that, we're supposed to uh help out the congregation. No, no, no, no. And and and please understand, I I get the argument. It was a very good argument because I actually believed it for one for a long time until I started looking it up and started studying it out. But please understand that was mainly so that because the the Levites and the priests really had no other job than to take care of the house of God. So everything that's that you know the you know, the church have a roof league, or the church gives out, um, if the church gives out uh food to the like homeless people, they still have to get that money from somewhere, you know, to make the church pay. Everything costs, and that's where that money comes from,

Church Support And The Poor Argument

you know, supporting the the priests. Now, now I get it. I I know somebody in the comment section is gonna say, well, the preacher shouldn't have a nice car, that the preacher shouldn't shouldn't have a shouldn't have a two million dollar house. Let me explain something to you. And and I'm kind of gonna go off script on this. If if your preacher hasn't owned yet, either A that um that uh that church has probably got 45,000 members, or somebody's mishandling the funds. So I didn't say that the preacher is to get the tithes. What I said was the church was to get the tithes to support the priest. Now your your preacher should I and and me personally out of the book of JJ, your preacher probably should not have a $45,000 watch. No, because the Bible talks about how a preacher is supposed to dress, how a pastor is supposed to be sober and and dress very modestly and not wearing of gold and and pearls and costly array. So if you're if your pastor's kind of doing that with the money, then I can see why you have why you're having a problem with the tithe. I I can I can understand that. But that does not um exonerate you from paying the tithes because now God has got to go after two people. He's got to go after the preacher, and he's got to go after you. There is no no clause in the Bible that says if that person is doing wrong, now you're okay with doing wrong. God is going to judge between me and you. I was just studying this, I was listening to this um song about David and Saul, where the law was do not touch God's anointed. And David had the opportunity to kill Saul, and he said, If if I do that, Saul is already

When Leaders Misuse Money

gonna face his punishment, but now I've got to face the punishment too. So I get it. Trust me, I get it, I get it, I get it. But we are not allowed, but just not allowed. And we're gonna talk a lot about a lot more scripture where it comes to what tithes is, and what, and there's even a penalty if you take back some of God's tithes. So, and and I just absolutely do not have time to go into it today because that's that's an episode by itself. But there is, we are just not allowed to do something because somebody else did something wrong. Because God, because that person is their best wing or mishandling God's money. God's gonna deal with him, but we also don't want God to be dealing with us in the process of dealing with him, because I would rather be written. And when I we go up to judgment, I'm there's nothing in the book that says, Hey, it except this guy did the wrong thing, so you're here by justified. Can You Live On Ninety Percent

just 10%. Now, again, I again I'm going to go back to the point where I tell you, if anybody, if anybody who has paid their tithes correctly, I have never seen them financially struggle. If you want to put a love offering, you want to put whatever newfangled offering the so-called evangelist comes along and tells you to put in there the seed offering and this offering and that offering. You want to do all that, that's on you. But God is requiring a 10% and whatever vow that you've created with God. Now, that's the thing that God is going to deal with you on. Well, well, you know what? God told me to put in $20 every service. Okay, cool. But this does not absolve you of your tithes. And and if God is saying that I gave you 100% of this, and all I'm requiring is 10%, I don't, I just don't understand. I I cannot get my wrap my head around why we can't live on 90% of our income. If we can't live on 90 cent 90% of our income, I believe that maybe we might be overspending, and we're we're not being blessed to begin with. Okay. And I'm just gonna say that and I'm gonna let that go. But the the real question I was gonna get to is that would you rather do everything right? And then when God asks you what happened to your tithes, you have nothing to say, and then end up going to hell over 10 cents on a dollar. Is it that important? Because that's what did it for me. Pastor said tithes, tithe is 10%, Bible says tithe is 10%. I've got nothing else to say. I'm just gonna put that 10% in because I do not want to go to hell over 10 cents on a dollar. I'm sorry. People go to hell over less, but I get it. So that's my choice. That's my answer to you. That's my question to you is it worth it? Is it worth, is it even worth all this fighting? We could be out there reaching the loss. And here we are talking about 10 cents on a dollar because you don't want to pay it. I mean, think about it. Think about it. We could be out there making the world a happier place, telling them about the love of God. And here we are arguing because you're upset over 10 cents on a dollar, and you're making up lies over the fact that you were upset over 10 cents over a dollar. All right, let me get off the spin.
